W Bro Peter Jordan SLGR, PAGDC (RA) writes:
In 2011, the members of Chartered Accountants Lodge No 3162 decided to surrender their Warrant. Determined to save it, RW Bro Stephen Fenton PJGW, W Bro Yasha Beresiner PGStB and W Bro Andrea Bonechi SLGR held a meeting with a group of Italian Masons to support, rebuild and ultimately breathe new life into the Lodge.
Their efforts were fruitfully rewarded in September 2012 as Chartered Accountants Lodge welcomed W Bro Bonechi and thirteen joining members (twelve Italian and one English) into their ranks. Since then, the Lodge has continued to go from strength to strength by attracting over fifty further joining members and initiates from both Italy and the London area, a far cry from its desperate state in 2011! The Lodge now meets four times a year at the stunning Mark Masons' Hall, conducting all of their ceremonies in English.
Charity is absolutely central to Chartered Accountants Lodge, with generous donations from members as well as numerous sponsored activities. A shining example of this was seen at the regular meeting held on the 21st February 2026, where the Lodge voted that the sum of £10,000 should be awarded to the London Freemasons’ Charity to support fellow Masons in the area. The affiliation with London is of key importance to the members, who wish to send a huge ‘thank you’ for hosting their meetings for fourteen years and for the welcome they have received.
27th June 2026 saw 45 members and guests attend at Mark Masons' Hall. This included honorary member RW Bro Stephen Fenton PJGW together with VW Bro Stratton Richey PGSwdB, W Bro Howard Markham PJGD and Metropolitan Grand Lodge Inspector W Bro Keith Alexander PSGD.
Following the opening of the Lodge and the in-house business, W Bro Keith Alexander PSGD was admitted. Salutations were given, firstly to RW Bro Stephen Fenton and then to the other Grand Officers present. Following the confirmation of the donation of £10,000 to the London Freemasons’ Charity, the Worshipful Master presented the cheque to VW Bro Stratton Richey PGSwdB, who thanked the members for their great generosity and provided insights into the work carried out by the charity. This was warmly applauded.
The Installation of W Bro Tommaso Cristalli then took place. The Address to the Master was expertly presented by W Bro Stefano Poretti; W Bro Robert Buckles SLGR presented the address to the Wardens, followed by the address to the Brethren by RW Bro Stephen Fenton PJGW which was equally excellent.
Following the investment of the Lodge Officers, three Grand Lodge Certificates were presented to recently raised Brothers. These were also explained and presented by RW Bro Stephen Fenton PJGW in his usual exemplary manner.
At the conclusion of the meeting photographs were taken as a record of the momentous event and 42 stayed to enjoy a carvery.
“The ‘London Freemasons’ Charity’ works tirelessly to support all aspects of Masonry and people in need. Any future donations held in your Lodge Charity accounts would be gratefully received and faithfully applied”.
